Thought of the Day:
"For many of us, there's a gap between the compass and the clock-between what's deeply important to us and the way we spend our time."

Bandar Seri Begawan - The 2nd Mahrajan Hafl Al-Takharruj, or Convocation Festival of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), was officially launched yesterday by His Royal Highness Prince (Dr) Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Pro-Chancellor of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali. The launch was held at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.

During the festival, a total of 15 booths for both the exhibition and sales were set up at the Press Conference Hall, and seven booths for food and beverages were set up at Dewan Delima of the ICC.

This year's theme for the Mahrajan is 'Al-Quran and Al-Sunnah the Core of a Pious Family' (Al-Quran dan Al-Sunnah Teras Keluarga Bertaqwa), and according to a press release by Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), it was chosen to enliven this year's event.

The theme focusses on the role of Al-Quran and Al-Sunnah in shaping righteous family as it is an important component in the formation of a community and society. Without the family institution, the formation of a country will not be perfect.

Islam views the family institution as an institution that will serve as a pattern to the community to be built. Therefore, as a Zikir Nation, and with the constant remembrance of Allah the Almighty, Al-Quran and AlSunnah are sources of reference for the establishment of the family institution.

In reference to the theme, the exhibition's concept for seven faculties and centres available in UNISSA will be more focussed on the central role of the faculty and in righteous family formation based on Al-Quran and Al-Sunnah.

The exhibition will showcase scholarly books that were recently published by the university. Participating faculties and centres at the exhibition are the Faculty of Usuluddin, the Faculty of Syariah and Law, the Faculty of Arabic Language and Management Science, Postgraduate and Research Centre, Mazhab Shafi'i Research Centre, and the Centre for the Promotion of Knowledge and Language Learning.

Several Islamic financial institutions are also present at the exhibition in giving knowledge of the importance on Islamic banking. Also taking part in the exhibition are UNISSA students council, UNISSA military cadets, UNISSA tuckshop unit, two booths for book sales, and one booth selling international products.

Members of the public are welcome to visit the exhibition to further enliven the 2nd Mahrajan Hafl Al-Takharruj and also to benefit from the knowledge on how to produce a righteous, 'sakinah', 'mawaddah' and 'rahmah' family.
