Bandar Seri Begawan - False information spreading through popular cross-platform mobile messaging application WhatsApp has quickly been quashed by one of Brunei's telecommunications providers.
According to a press statement from B.Mobile, a forwarded message currently being passed around offering financial rewards under certain terms and conditions is false and the company has cautioned its customers against being duped.
The message reads: "This message is brought to you by B.Mobile for all WhatsApp users in Brunei Darussalam: Forward this message to 10 WhatsApp users and you will get $20 automatically."
In the statement, B.Mobile reiterated that "no such arrangement has been made" and queries, if any can be forwarded to the B.Mobile Careline at 177 for clarification or further information.
"We advise our valued customers to be mindful of similar false messages in the future without prior verification," said B.Mobile.
