Bandar Seri Begawan - The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) yesterday arrested 15 foreigners, tour permanent residents and one local for alleged involvement in a gambling activity in the wee hours of the morning.
Following a public tip-off, police personnel from the Anti-Vice and Gambling Suppression Unit of Ong Sum Ping raided a house in the vicinity of Kg Jangsak at 1.50am.
During the operation, gaming paraphernalia relating to the game of 'pai kaw' was found at the scene along with cash. All arrested persons and the case exhibits were brought back to CID in Ong Sum Ping for further investigation.
The arrested persons are currently being investigated under Section 4(a) and 6(1) of the Common Gaming House (CGH) Act, Chapter 28, where the maximum penalty for Section 4(a) of CGH, Cap 28 is a fine of $20,000 and 12 months' imprisonment. The maximum penalty for gaming in a common gaming house under Section 6(1) of CGH, Chapter 28 is a fine of $10,000 and imprisonment of six months.
