I am a lady driver who recently experienced an incident. I met my friends for a group project at a restaurant located at Citis Square during dinner. I decided to leave at around 9.15pm and headed towards my car alone.
I had parked my car directly in front of the Fish & Co restaurant. When I arrived at the parking area, I realised that there was inadequate lighting and a few other cars were parked besides mine.
As I was entering my car, a man appeared out of the blue. I thought he was the owner of the car parked next to mine so I did not bother but something seemed fishy because instead of walking to the left side of that car, he walked to the right side, approaching me. After closing the door of my car, by habit, I immediately locked it.
Suddenly, I heard a banging sound. I immediately knew it was the man because there was no sign of others around. He kept banging the side of my car and at the same time spoke in a foreign language continuously, trying to get my attention.
I was scared. When I started to reverse my car he stopped what he was doing and I did not dare look back after that. Due to this incident, I hope that the authority can erect more street lights and hire more security to patrol the area regularly so that it is safe for everyone.
I am sharing this experience to let everyone know so that we, especially all lady drivers, can take extreme precautions at all times.
