With reference to the letter from "Commuters" entitled 'Is Royal Trophy An Exception?', published in Borneo Bulletin's Opinion page on December 15, 2012, we would like to clarify the comments made on the whole operations and activities during the Royal Trophy at The Empire Hotel & Country Club ("the Hotel") on December 14, 2012, Friday.
The Royal Trophy match started on December 14, teed off at 9.00am.
This was witnessed by members of public spectators, invited guests and media partners.
The first round lasted two hours, ending at 11.30am.
The tournament ceased at 12noon to 2.00pm to respect the Jumaat prayers. Spectators and visitors left the premises.
All public outlets at the Hotel were closed during this period.
The players and non-Muslim organising staff remained at the private area of the Hotel.
The Hotel acknowledges the Titah of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in respect of closing business premises during the Jumaat prayer which has been implemented by the hotel since its announcement.
