Treatment of animals seems fair in our country except for strays who are mercilessly put down by a heartless few and a handful of racing motorists who even run over slow-moving doves and egrets.
However the way some people treat their pets here is something to ponder on.
While we shower love and kindness on the domestic cats who follow our children everywhere at home, the same cannot be said for some who trap tropical birds in small cages that are hung for their own enjoyment.
It's so heartbreaking to see an otherwise freely flying majestic creature virtually stuffed into a small cage and made a prisoner for life.
Rabbits too are reared by a heartless few like that.
They are put in small cages with no room for them to stretch their legs.
They are creatures of nature who harmlessly and freely roam around. I wonder if anyone gets the thought of how they would feel if confined to such a small space themselves.
I hope animal rights can be exercised here where lessons in commonsense can be instilled on such people.
