With reference to the Opinion on July 18, 2012 regarding the issue 'Asking for a centre that welcomes used clothing in good condition', the Department of Community Development (JAPEM) of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports would like to inform the writer that the department, since its establishment, has been continuously receiving contributions and donations from the public either in cash or kind.

The department to date has received numerous donations in kind such as second hand clothing which are clean and in good condition, furniture, curtains, books, food etc which are all given away to those people the department would identify as in dire need as well as for victims of disaster.

The department has always worked closely with other NGOs and private sector in distributing assistance of cash and kind to the people in need.

The department has always accepted any donations in kind from the public as long as the items donated are in good and proper condition and are of use for the recipients.

The items collected will be kept under the management of the Disaster Assistance and Housing Section of the Department of Community Development in Kg Pulaie, Jln Kebangsaan.
