Thought of the Day:
"What is the "best" for you? What keeps you from giving those "best" things the time and energy you want to give them? Are too many "good" things getting in the way?"

Has Heavy Machine Workshop Occupied State Land?

  • PDF

This is the first time I'm writing to the 'Opinion' section of the Borneo Bulletin.

I have brought an issue to JKR's attention but so far no action has been taken against the contractor, so I have no other option but to voice out this matter for the public to read.

Along Jalan Kechil Tanjung Langir, Kampong Kulapis, there are activities conducted by a contractor who dumps heavy machine/scrap metal at this state land and seems to have made the area as their fulltime workshop.

The area has become an eyesore, is dirty and polluted as the waste is dumped by the river.

Is this workshop approved by the authority?

The road has been damaged and it is a noise pollution as well even during Friday prayer.

Do the workers have work visa/ permits? They are also a disturbance as they bitter around the kampong vicinity.

Has this workshop been approved by the Ketua Kampong? Are the worker's squatter houses approved by relevant authority, JKR, Labour Department?

Noise from the heavy machine is too loud to bear. Will it affect our health in the long run? We hope our questions will be answered.
