I was surprised and even amused when I noted the difference in coverage given by our two local newspapers to what transpired at the press conference held at the CID HQ in Ong Sum Ping, regarding the recent spate of incidents in Brunei. .
While one gave in detail what the police said about the case involving an elephant, and ended Its report with a call to the media to "ensure that what has been published is responsible reporting, and not create panic".
In contrast, the other paper not only gave the barest of details of what was said by the police regarding the same case, but it also omitted the call to the media to engage in responsible reporting.
I certainly sympathise with the pblice whose job has become "more challenging" due to the emergence of WhatsApp and Facebook.
I hope the BB steers clear of such fiascos!
