Last Tuesday (December 4, 2012), my friend and I were travelling in the Telisai area of Tutong District around 1pm and were shocked to see two government 4WD vehicles bearing government BG registration plates heading to Belait District overtaking dangerously that could possibly have led to accidents with other road users.
What we were shocked at was the way the cars were overtaking on the single lane, "which is prohibited for overtaking. Although we were heading towards Tutong, we could see that they nearly crashed into a car in front of them while overtaking a truck.
Fortunately the car driver managed to go back into his lane to prevent an accident. Is this how BG cars are driven on public road? Didn't the Ministry of Development release its Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) guidelines a few months back? If they practise HSE then why should they drive as if the road was a racing circuit?
We hope in the future BG drivers set a good example to the public not only in driving but in every aspect of everyday life. This is because they play an important role as "indirect" government ambassadors in the eyes of the public.
