Be Considerate To Your Neighbours And Turn Down The Volume

  • PDF

I am writing this at 12.54am when normal people are asleep.

In our area in Kg Tungku we have a few neighbours who are obviously quite fond of karaoke.

For many nights over the past few weeks we would hear the karaoke begin and that's just fine since it is at acceptable noise/volume level.

But sometimes it gets so incredibly loud we actually suffer a headache and one would think one is in the Bandar Padang area at one of those public concerts.

What people do in their own homes is their business but the moment the noise level becomes too loud it becomes a public nuisance.

Then it becomes the neighbours' business!

Worse still I rang the police hotline at 12 midnight (not earlier because to give those karaoke lovers a chance), to complain about the fact that my kids and baby are disturbed by the noise noise, and that it's so loud that my in-laws too have been affected.

It had been 11 agonising songs after. I called the police hotline, meaning more than 45 mins we had waited but nothing was done to stop the noise nuisance!

So what is the hotline for when we ring in to seek assistance?

Karaoke lovers please be considerate to your neighbours who do not share the same love and enjoyment of your singing talents, in this case non existing!

You are living amongst other people here who are greatly affected by what you do and how you choose to "party" or entertain!

Place yourself in your neighbours' shoes for goodness sake!

Just being a little considerate goes a long way. The authorities need to look into this public noise nuisance issue.

I am sure we are not the first to complain!
