Seria (Nov 10, 1962) - Offshore surveys for likely sources of oil are to be carried out next year in the Borneo territories by an American firm of seismic contractors.

The contractors, Geophysical Services Inc, will use a converted US hospital ship of 760 tonnes fitted with the latest seismic equipment. Including techn-icians, the ship will have a complement of about 20 men.

The surveys are to be carried out for the Shell companies in Borneo and will start off the Sarawak coast.

Later, the coastal areas of North Borneo and Brunei will be surveyed.
