November 11, 1992 - Bosnia-Herzegovina has praised Brunei and has mentioned the matter of Bosnian orphans for adoption among other things.
Dr Mustapha Ceric, the official representative of the government of Bosnia-Herzegovina currently visiting the country thanked the nation for coming to the aid of his war-torn country where more than 100,000 people including women and children have been killed in the horrendous year-long conflict.
His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has made an immediate donation of B$1 million and another US$1 million during the Silver Jubilee Celebrations for Bosnia. The people of Brunei has also raised funds, which is nearing B$3 million.
Dr Ceric who is here on an official visit yesterday paid a courtesy call on His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, the Foreign Affairs Minister.
He also called on the Deputy Minister of Welfare, Youth and Sports, Dato Haji Selamat Munap. During their talks, he mentioned the matter of war orphans. Malaysia has taken in 30 to 40 Bosnian orphans out of the 100 or so offered.
Dr Ceric said that his country would consider the kind donations made by Brunei as "sedekah" and would be "survival money" for the suffering people of Bosnia.
