January 12, 2002 - Taiwan's current sex scandal has hit Gadong in the suburbs of Brunei's capital.
Some shops "burning" CD copies of a sex scandal video featuring a former Taiwan woman official and a married businessman has been selling like "hot cakes" during the past week.
The secretly shot tape allegedly shows Chu Mei-feng and businessman Tseng Chung-ming during a sexual encounter.
The Brunei vendors have taken photocopy episodes and billing them as "Taiwan's No 1 Movies" and are selling it at $10 each. The writings are in Chinese and they go unnoticed by anyone who cannot read the language.
According to reports, Taiwan police have been confiscating thousands of the videos but they have turned up for sale in Malaysia where they are sold at RM1 and now in Brunei.
The tabloid 'Scoop Weekly' distributed videos of the affair, allegedly shot secretly in Ms Mei-feng's flat. Taiwan police say the sale violates laws against the sale of indecent material and the invasion of privacy for profit.
