Bandar Seri Begawan - Some 80 Brunei Darussalam Amateur Radio Association (BDARA) members and their families conducted an outing trip to Pulau Tanjong Pelumpong on July 9 and 10.

Among them were the Adviser of BDARA, V85BAHaji Abu Bakar bin Haji Ahmad and the President of BDARA, V85DX Pg Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman bin Pg Haji Damit.

Also in attendance were family members of the executive and organising committees as well as members of the association.

The event began with a morning exercise followed by several fun-filled activities.

According to the chairman of the organising committee, V85CB Haji Abdul Wahab bin Haji Salleh, the aim of the gathering, which is part of their monthly activities, was to enhance closer ties amongst family members of the association.

The perfect weather conditions that day made it possible for members to communicate via the VHF and HF amateur radio equipments.

The first group of ham volunteers comprised 14 operators arrived a day earlier to prepare the logistics and radio station set up.

Bad weather condition and strong winds made it inconvenient to move around freely but members were still able to transmit the BDARA VHF 2 metre net from the based campsite.

Tanjong Pelumpong is an island located on the intercoastal waterways of Brunei Bay and the front gate facing Muara Port, the Royal Brunei Naval Base and Pulau Muara Besar.
