Bandar Seri Begawan - Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) alumni acts as a bridge that connects the university with the community, a vital key in ensuring close ties, mutually united with unwavering support for each other, the permanent secretary (Higher Education), Ministry of Education said yesterday.

Speaking at the thanksgiving ceremony to celebrate the success of UBD Alumni in the National AI-Quran Reading Competition for Adults recently, Hj Mohammad Daud Hj Mahmud said, UBD alumni can contribute their knowledge, skill and time to UBD as part of their responsibilities and support to the university."

He also expressed hopes that they would continue their interests and love in reciting AlQuran and would share the knowledge with other youths and the comtnunity.

The four UBD alumni were Ak Md Adibul Amin Pg Hj Marzuki, Nurfaezah Hj Emran, Norezah Hj Md Deli and Md Zulhafiz Tenph.

Ak Md Adibul Amin Pg Hj Marzuki, champion in the Qari category, is a final year student of Bachelor of Arts (BA) Accounting and Finance at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Policies.

Md Zulhafiz Tengah, second runner-up is a graduate of (BA) Syariah from Sultan Hj Omar Ali Saifuddien Institute of Islamic Studies.

Nurfaezah Hj Ewan, champion in the Qariah category, a graduate in Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Mathematics, is 22007 UBD alumni. Her colleague Norezah Hj Md Deli, a graduate of (BSc) in Science in Education Honours from Sultan Hj Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education, is the first runner-up in the Qariah category.

Dean of Students at UBD, Dr Nurulaini Pg Hj Muhd Kifli said, "UBD through its Students Affairs Section will continue to encourage co-curriculum activities including Al-Quran Club as a field of learning that emphasise the development of the individuals".

"UBD through religious and spiritual executive under the UBD Student Council, is also playing its role in spreading Islam through its activities.
