ARCS Calls On BDARA

Bandar Seri Begawan - A group of 36 ham radio members from 9M8 land, ARCS (Amateur Radio Club Sarawak), Kuching visited Brunei recently as a courtesy call to their fellow amateur radio friends in Brunei.
The trip was led by 9W2ZRE and 9M6PIN and the groups are also headed to Kota Kinabalu as part of their Trans-Borneo Sarawak to Sabah expedition. Before heading to Kota Kinabalu, the ARCS group's visit to Brunei was hosted by local station BDARA, (Persekutuan Radio Amatur Negara Brunei Darussalam) at homeQTH of V88AJK Abd Jamal Hj Abd Rahman and V88AHV Dk Aidah Pg Hj Ahmad at their residence in Rimba Hill, Kg Rimba Gadong.
In a speech, the chairman of the organising committee V88ADP Hj Moksin bin Hj Karim addressed the importance of the cooperation between them especially in enhancing bilateral communication in terms of radio transmission in the context of the One World One Language philosophy.
He also invited Sarawak ham enthusiasts to join the Borneo Field Ham Festival, which will be held in July this year. ARCS member 9W2ZRE expressed their appreciation with the warm reception given to their first visit to Brunei. An exchange of tokens of appreciation were also held at the end of the ceremony by representatives from the Brunei and Sarawak group. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
