Bandar Seri Begawan - Fifty RTB personnel - comprising producer, presenter, broadcaster and announcer - yesterday attended a half-day seminar on 'Healthy Living' organized by the Health Promotion Centre, Ministry of Health, at the centre.
Yesterday's seminar began with the recital of al-fatihah and doa selamat, followed by a welcoming note from Head of the Health Promotion Centre, Senior Medical Officer Dr Hjh Norhayati Hj Md Kassim.
She touched on the objectives of the seminar which is to share information on the various services and facilities available for health promotion such as the Smoking Cessation Clinic for those wish to stop smoking, the Weight Control Clinic (KBS) for those wishing to shed some kilos and the Health Galleria that contains interactive exhibits about healthy living and contemporary health issues.
The seminar is to expose participants about the main health issues facing Brunei and risk factors for chronic diseases in the sultanate. She pointed out that the ministry hence hopes that participants will be partners in promoting health issues, in broadcasting effective health messages to the public as the ministry alone cannot run any health education programs without the help of outside partners particularly those from broadcasting establishments.
Presentations began with an overall picture of health issues in the sultanate by Senior Medical Officer Dr Pg Hishammuddin followed with Healthy Eating by Food Nutrients Officer Nelson Dennis, Physical Activities by Health Education Officer Siti Khadizah Hj Bakhri, Dangers of Tobacco by Health Education Officer Pg Anuar Pg Lt Col Rambli, Stress by officer from the Community Psychology Section and Oral Health.
Concluding the seminar was a Q&A prior to the participants being taken on a tour of the Health Galleria. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
