Bandar Seri Begawan - The United States (US) State Department's Assistant Secretary for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, Kurt Campbell, will be arriving in Brunei today for a three-day visit.
He is currently touring a number of Southeast Asian countries to discuss US bilateral relations, Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) relations and other areas of mutual interest.
The Assistant Secretary was in Malaysia, Laos and Thailand before coming to Brunei.
This will mark his first visit to Brunei where he will be meeting with senior government officials to discuss opportunities in expanding the existing positive US-Brunei Darussalam relationship.
Assistant Secretary Campbell assumed his duties as the Assistant Secretary of East Asian and Pacific Affairs in June 2009.
Previously, he was the chief executive officer and cofounder of the Centre for a New American Security (CNAS) and concurrently served as the director of the Aspen Strategy Group and chairman of the Editorial Board of the Washington Quarterly.
