Bandar Seri Begawan - As the Malaysia Showcase 2010 drew to a close yesterday, the majority of exhibitors expressed their delight with the overwhelming response from consumers and trade visitors during the three-day event.
M K Land Group Sales and Marketing Manager Puteri Sayang Abdul Ghafar described the overall response as `extremely good' on the final day of the event.
"Before I came to Brunei, I thought Bruneians were conservative with regards to investing in properties abroad. However, to my surprise, there are a number of potential investors here who are very open to the idea of investing in our property."
M K Land is the main developer for residential areas in Bandar Damansara Perdana, a growing township at one of the most convenient and accessible locations in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.
"We have already set up business-to-business meetings with buyers from Brunei who will be coming to take a closer look at our properties. We also have existing property owners who approached us during the event to consider our new products and services," she added.
Marketing Executive Mohd Hasli Mohd Rozali from SIRIM QAS International Sdn Bhd, Malaysia's leading certification, inspection and testing body, in a press statement said, the aim of SIRIM QAS is to ensure that organisations are managed in accordance with universally accepted values such as justice, honesty, truthfulness, sincerity, timeliness and discipline.
"It also ensures that the halal and non-halal aspects of all processes necessary for the delivery of products and services are identified, communicated to every personnel in the organisation and effectively implemented."
According to a SIRIM QAS representative, the Malaysia Showcase 2010 helped to tap into the Brunei market.
The organisers reported that the last day of the event saw the highest turnout of visitors.
"On the first day, there were quite a number of visitors who came enquiring about products and services offered. We realised that on Saturday, the turn out was moderate. But on the last day, we received more than 2,000 visitors by noon time," he added.
One avid proprietor, Mr Eng, was thankful for the event, saying he is now more interested in investing in property in Malaysia.
"Initial discussions with some of the exhibitors have been positive and I'm quite interested in some of the products that were offered. Brunei and Malaysia are no strangers to one another. It's a matter of finding the right channel. I hope the organiser will bring in more of their products to Brunei because I think investing in Malaysia is good value for money,' he added.
Meanwhile, voicing a little disappointment, one visitor who chose to remain anonymous said, "Despite the products and services being showcased, I noticed a few hiccups here and there, especially in regard to the stage performances.
"There wasn't enough space to accommodate the large crowds that gathered to watch the shows. As a parent, I was very concerned about the safety of my children, and had to wait about two hours to catch the next show as the room was overflowing with fans."
The Malaysia Showcase 2010 was the first and most comprehensive event held at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas. It carried the theme 'Bringing Malaysia Brands, Products and Services to the World'.
The event was organised by Evetneka Sdn Bhd, a Malaysia-based event management company, and supported by the Malaysian High Commission in Brunei.
The first of a series of regional road shows, which will cover the whole of Asean, the Middle East and India, the Malaysia Showcase 2010 highlighted the country's products and services, technological capabilities as well as attractiveness as an investment and tourism destination. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
