This was then followed by the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah led by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Hj Abdul Aziz

The Minister of Religious Affairs in his welcoming remarks said that the presence of His Majesty and the royal family members enlivened the celebration and showed support to the participants in observing and practising the teachings of the Prophet in his efforts to uphold and disseminate the syiar (eminence) of Islam.

He also said that the annual mass Maulidur Rasul procession should leave a positive effect on Muslims nationwide and that they needed to take examples of the Prophet's noble behaviour through regular reading of Al-Quran as the holy book speaks about his noble traits.
Prior to the procession, a Dzikir Marhaban was performed and a barrage of 21 cannon shots to mark the start of the procession around the capital.

The procession started at 9am and lasted for an hour. A doa was read by the state mufti to bless the occasion. The procession, a national event, was also held simultaneously in the three other districts namely Tutong, Belait and Temburong. -- Courtesy of The Brunei Times
