Reply From Used Car Dealers

We refer to the article 'Advice to used car buyers' published in the Weekend Bulletin on February 6.

We are very surprised with the disappointed buyer's lack of knowledge and ignorance on the issue on car manufactured year and registration date (car sold)

All car models have a life span between 4 - 6 years depending on manufacturer. A car can be manufactured in the year 2002 but the same model maybe sold by the dealer/distributor in the year 2006. You cannot use the year of the manufacture to say the car is four years old when it was still brand new.
It has always been a practise to use the year of registration to determine the age of a car and this has been the case in importing all used cars.

On the same matter, we would like to invite Disappointed Buyer if he/she is a genuine customer to come to one of our showrooms so that we can show him/her proof that all our transactions are proper and legal.

Just as "If there is a will, there is a way." The same goes for people who wish to steal. We can only try to deter but all in vain when the will is determined. We can all push and shove in terms of legal or conned. We all know very well it all comes down to the money. Where there is a loop hole, they will find it and work around it. Best thing being, buy them new. As another saying goes "If its cheap, don't expect it to be good and if its expensive, it DOES NOT NECESSARILY mean that it is good either" Use your logic, your own judgement and be weary. If it seems too good to be true, it most probably is not as it seems. How do u think they get so rich and there's more second-hand car dealers. :-)

No offense but I can't believe anyone is crazy enough to buy a new car right now in this economy. Considering that a healthy chunk of 2010 Cash 4 Clunkers cars have already been repossessed (i.e. repofinder.com) why not just go to local banks and credit unions and buy these repo cars back for half the retail price? If you're going to buy junk at least don't over pay.
