Kuala Belait - A policeman charged with breaking into the Crime Investigation Department (CID) in Kuala Belait and stealing wallets containing just over $23,000 was released on bail of $25,000 or two local sureties yesterday.
The decision was made by the Bandar Magistrate's Court after the defendant, 29 year-old L/Cpl Abd Razak Abd Rahim made a retraction of his guilty plea.
However, the court will be handing out its ruling tomorrow whether the defendant is allowed to retract his earlier plea of guilty towards the charges and re-enter a plea of not guilty.
According to the prosecution, Abd Razak was the assistant investigating officer in a gambling raid and broke into the CID evidence storeroom and stole 25 wallets containing the money which were seized in the raid earlier. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
