Back-To-School Promotion To Aid Parents

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Ministry of Education (MoE) will be holding a "Back To School Promotional Sale and Showcase" at the International Convention Centre (ICC) to help parents with the peparations for the upcoming new school year, according to representatives from the ministry's Curriculum Development Department.A representative of the MoE told The Brunei Times that the sale which will begin on December 28 meant to help guardians and parents, especially those with low income, an opportunity to buy school books and materials and even electronic products at discounted prices.
In addition, it was also an opportunity to gather various book vendors as well as companies under one roof to sell books, materials and other school stationeries and accessories for the convenience of parents.
"Everything will be there from books to school clothes and even laptops at discounted prices," said the representative who wished to remain unnamed.
"It is going to be a big event. We are expecting the gathering to be as large as that of the previous consumer fairs that have been held at the ICC," he added.
He said that those who wish to participate in the Back to School Exhibition should register with the Curriculum Development Department before December 24.
Private education institutions as well as Non-Governmental Organisations such as Jerudong International School (JIS), International School Berakas (ISB), Laksamana College of Business, Kaca and Learning
Ladders Society as well as Pusat Ehsan, will also be there to provide information to the public.
"This is an opportunity for the private education institutions to promote their schools and register those who are interested in studying at their institutions," he said.
There will also be performances from students from other schools and presentation of certificates of appreciation and prizes to those who participated in the exhibition during the closing ceremony.
With its theme: Membeli/ Berbelanja Sambil Beramal (Buying and Spending for Charity), the organisers hoped to raise funds which will be given to students from low-income families as well as victims of the earthquake in Indonesia and typhoon in the Philippines.
