50 Of 51 Workers Clear KB Immigration Inspections

Kuala Belait - Some 51 foreign workers came under close inspection by the Enforcement Unit of the Immigration and National Registration Department Kuala Belait Branch during an inspection operation targeting several rented houses and workers' quarters in the Kuala Belait area on Wednesday night.
In the operation codenamed "Ops Bungkas 184/2009" that was led by a Senior- Immigrations Officer, an Indian national was given a special pass requiring him to report to the department for further enquiries and action. The remaining 50 workers, who were from Thailand, Philippines,, India and Indonesia, were all able to produce valid documents, the department stated in a press release Thursday.
The Immigration and National Registration Department also reminded employers to prepare the appropriate documents for their respective employees so that they can produce legal documents immediately on request by the department officers who will be conducting their inspections from time to time.
The department is also calling on the public to provide information on any unlawful activities that violate the rules and regulations under the Immigration Act.
