His Majesty Joins Aidil Adha Prayers
His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah (3rd R) The Sultan And Yang Di-Pertuan Of Brunei Darussalam, HRH Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah (2nd R), HRH Prince Jefri Bolkiah (R), HRH Prince 'Abdul Malik (2nd L) And HRH Prince 'Abdul Mateen (L) Offer Aidil Adha Prayers At Jame' 'Asr Bassani! Bolkiah.
Bandar Seri Begawan - His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday joined fellow Muslims in performing sunnat Aidil Adha prayers at Jame'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kiulap With His Majesty were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah, His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik and His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen.
Leading the congregation in the prayers was Chief Syariah Judge Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Yahya Hj Ibrahim.
More than 2,000 Muslims of various nationalities, men and women, young and old, attended at the mass prayers.
The prayers were followed by a two-part sermon delivered by Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Badaruddin Pengarah Dato Paduka Hj Othman.
Following the prayers, His Majesty led the sacrificial ceremony, which involved seven goats contributed by His Majesty and other members of the royal family His Majesty performed the sacrificial rites on the first goat himself, followed by HRH Prince 'Abdul Malik and HRH Prince 'Abdul Mateen, who each slaughtered a goat.
The ceremony was witnessed by an assembly of statesmen, cabinet ministers and guests from foreign missions and the mass gathering of Muslims from throughout the district.
His Majesty and members of the royal family annually contribute livestock for the qurban ceremony marking Aidil Adha. This year, the royal family contributed a total of 14 goats and 46 cattle. Following the sacrificial rites, His Majesty presented a portion of the sacrificial meat to each of the 20 selected recipients among the less fortunate families from Brunei-Muara District.
The sacrificial meat were also distributed to recipients in the other three districts by the respective district officer.-- Courtesy ofThe Brunei Times
