Good Response To Hsbc On Services
Bandar Seri Begawan - Internet banking services have made life easier, especially for highly sophisticated people who are always on the move.
HSBC Brunei, having aspired to provide the best customer friendly services with "convenience" as the ultimate goal, is a step closer to that vision after it signed an agreement with the Ministry of Finance (MoF) recently.
The deal gives customers in commercial and personal banking the luxury of saving a lot of time and energy by providing a new service where electricity and water bills can now be paid through Internet banking.
Talking to the Bulletin, Noor Sharon Tan, Manager of Channel Management of HSBC Brunei, revealed that HSBC attracted tremendous public interest in transactions on the first day it was made available.
"We've gotten a great response from this new service that HSBC has already planned for similar services to be made with other government agencies," Sharon noted.
Although three other banks along with HSBC signed the agreement with the MoF, Rosdi Amin Yaakub, Deputy CEO of HSBC Brunei, personally showed the Bulletin how easy and uncomplicated paying one's bill through the internet is.
Entering the bank's website, anyone with an account with HSBC can pay their electricity and water bills in less than five minutes.
With a few clicks, a bill payment that is made online will be processed on the spot, provided it is made during office hours, otherwise it will be reconciled the next day.
Payment will be extracted either from a customer or commercial group's bank account, credit card or debit card.
"The goal here," said Rosdi, "is to make bank services convenient for all, especially with immediate transactions that is made on the spot".
Those who still prefer to pay bills or loans over the counter or through ATMs, fear not, as Rosdi clarified that HSBC wishes to make bank services easier for everyone in all aspects.
Its branch in Kiulap has reopened after undergoing renovation and is now equipped with state-of-the art customer friendly services, which includes an upgrade to the ATMs.
Meanwhile, Rosdi also highlighted a *motion in conjunction with the new service.
Customers, picked randomly, who pay their water and electricity bills through online banking stand a chance to win $100. The promotion runs till December 31.
The Deputy CEO also announced that HSBC is currently undergoing a 'flexible time policy' for its staff.
The policy means that working time will be more flexible in a sense that an employee does not necessarily have to work the 8am to 5pm office hours, provided the time is recovered.
"(It is) an advantage for those who need time to pick their children up from school. It's also a strategy to pull workers (employees) in HSBC," he said.
HSBC, as a pioneer, was the first bank in Brunei to introduce internet banking in 2004. Currently, 80 per cent of all customer bill payments are made through online banking services.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
