Bandar Seri Begawan - Sending a strong message to illegally operated shops, three commercial shops operating without miscellaneous licenses were ordered to shut down temporarily yesterday in the latest operation codenamed 'Operasi Bersepadu Cegah 23/2009' led by the Law Enforcement Section of BSB Municipal Board.

The joint operation that also includes enforcement officers from Immigration as well as Labour Department targeted the Kg Delima area.

A car wash, along with a restaurant and a shop offering calls to overseas, were ordered to shut their doors for further investigation, after the shops were found to be operating without any miscellaneous licenses.

Three foreign workers believed to have violated the immigration law were also detained for further investigation by the immigration enforcement officers.

Under chapter 127 of the Miscellaneous License Act, anyone found guilty of operating a business without a license can be levied with a fine of not more than $10,000.

The Enforcement Section of BSB Municipal Board would like to urge the public to apply for a legitimate license in order to operate business.

The enforcement section will regularly conduct operations to make sure that all businesses comply with the rules and regulations of the Miscellaneous License Act.

Meanwhile, another operation codenamed "Operasi Keselamatan 2" was conducted on Monday by the Law Enforcement Section of BSB Municipal Board together with the Fire and Rescue Services Department to make sure shops and supermarkets comply to the safety guideline in Fire prevention.
