Bandar Seri Begawan - In preserving the traditional game of Gasing, the Youth and Sports Department yesterday morning received the key to the newly constructed Gasing venue located at the Hassanal Bolkiah Sports Complex in Berakas.

The first of its kind Gasing venue, which is built with two Gasing courts measure 10 x 10 metres. The venue, which costs around $477,000 to build, can accommodate up to 100 spectators. Based on an open and modern roof concept, the new Gasing venue will be used for the 3rd Borneo Games which is hosted by Brunei Darussalam from Nov 29 until Dec 6.

Present to receive the mock key of the new venue from Hajah Siti Aidah Binti Hj Mohammad, the Senior Work Engineer of Building Services Department of Public Works Department under the Ministry of Development was Hj Mohamad bin Penglima Asgar Dato Paduka Hj Abdullah, the Director of Youth and Sports.

Hj Mohamad bin Penglima Asgar Dato Paduka Hj Abdullah in an interview said that the new modern venue will definitely help promote the sport of Gasing in Brunei Darussalam. "It will be used as a proper training ground for our players," he said. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
