Bandar Seri Begawan - Academic excellence achieved by students of Menglait Secondary School was recognised at a prize presentation in the school's premises yesterday.

Acting Special Duties Officer (Secondary Level Education), Ibrahim Hj Abdul Rahman, in his address said the students' achievements were due to their diligence and initiative to succeed under the guidance of dedicated teachers and patents.

The school also honoured student? Participation in co-curricular activities. Ak Mohd Adi Fakri Mahfuz Pg Hj Md Yusof was awarded the Excellent Talent Award for representing the school in badminton, football and silat tournaments. He was also chosen to represent the country with the national silat team.

The Exemplary Student Award was given to Aqilah @ Syafina Abd Hadzid for her academic achievements and involvement in representing the school at many scholastic events and her participation in the nation's synchronised swimming team.

The ceremony included a medal presentation by Chris Walker from Jerudong International School (JIS) to the Merglait Secondary School football players who won the futsal tournament organised by JIS.

A donation worth $783.23 was also presented to the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans (Dana), which was handed over to the Deputy Managing Director of Yayasan Sultan Hail Hassanal Bolkiah, Hj Puasa Hj Jumat, by the school principal, Liew Yong Kim. -- Courtesy of The Brunei Times
