Bandar Seri Begawan - An Iban man has embraced Islam at a conversion ceremony held at the multi-purpose hall of Tutong Dakwah Department.

The event began with the recital of Surah alFatihah, followed by the conversion ceremony.

The man declared his faith through the "dua kalimah syahadah" in front ofAwang Alizan bin Haji Ramle, Head of Tutong Dakwah Department.

Gibson Angkie anak Mawal is now known as Muhammad Sukri Shah bin Abdullah Mawal.

Doa selamat was read by an officer from the department. The ceremony ended with the presentation of a gift to the new convert by Awang Alizan.

According to Awang Alizan, his department has recorded 102 new converts since January this year.

He added that all new converts will attend a course on an introduction to Islam which will be conducted by offices from Islamic Dakwa Centre.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
