Tungku Primary School Honours Top Students
Bandar Seri Begawan - Tungku Primary School held a prize and certificate presentation ceremony for top students of 2009 from pre-school to Year 6. The event was held at the school's multi-purpose hall. The headmaster, Cikgu Haji Suhaili bin Haji Jaafar, in his speech congratulated all the recipients and said that this should act as a motivation for other students to study hard.
Also present were the school's Assistant Headmistress I Cikgu Saramah binti Mail and Assistant Headmistress II, Cikgu Fizawati binti Khanafiah. Students also performed various songs and dances to further enliven the event.
Appreciation awards were also given out to parents who were active in the school's Parent-Teacher Association (PTA). Recipients included Awang Jasni bin Haji Japar, Haji Ali Yussof bin Kahar and Haji Awang bin Moksin.
Meanwhile, the best academic award was presented to Nurhalimatul Afiqah bin Awang Matusin from Year 6A and the award for Best in ECA went to Md Fauzi bin Jaidin from Year 5C.
The highlight of the ceremony was the `memupul jagung' (plucking of sweet corns) event by the parents, invited guests and the school teachers. The sweet corns were planted by the pupils during their science lesson.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
