Experience The Exotic Flavours Of Penang At RBC
Royal Brunei Catering has specially flown in two chefs from Penang namely Ahmad Johari Isyak and Tan King Chong for this particular festival from November 23 to December 6.
The highlights of the festival include showcasing the 'Cooking with Class' motto. According to Chef Mohainad Ismail, RBC Sous Chef, the local community can experience the real flavours of Penang by dining at the Airport Restaurant during the promotion period.
Famous Penang dishes such as the 'Nasi Kandar', Rojak', Sotong Kangkung' and `Nyonya Popiah' will be available.
The festival is held in conjunction with 'Tourism Malaysia 2009'. The guest of honour was Dato Paduka Awg Hj Mustappa Hj Sirat, Permanent Secretary 1 at the Ministry of Defence.
Witnessing the ceremony was Dato' Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari, the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam.
A welcoming speech by Hj Omar Ali Hj Mohd Daud the Acting General Manager of Royal Brunei Catering highlighted that in their efforts (RBC) to meet their valued customers' demand, they are once again bringing in the authentic Malaysian favourites, after organising several Malaysia Food Festivals since 2005.
This also means that RBC will not be promoting just one but a few Malaysian delicacies froin the different states of Malaysia. He also thanked co-business partners Tourism Malaysia, Baiduri Bank, Gropoint Sdn Bhd and Cityneon Displays & Construction Sdn Bhd.
The guest honour sat on a trishaw specially built for the food festival to launch the event. Invited guests included senior government officials and representatives from the promotion's co-business partners.
The daily buffet lunch will be served from 12pm to 2pm at $20.50 per adult and $13.50 per child. Baiduri card holders will be given special discounts during the promotional period.
Patrons who dine in will get a chance to witness a Teh Tarik' demonstration and caricature drawing for free by Tourism Malaysia. Packages to Penang and Langkawi are also up for grabs. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
