MSPSBS Awards Best Students
This was stated by Hjh Ardinah binti OKMB Hj Othman, Senior Education Officer at the Schools' Inspectorate Department, Ministry of Education, during the Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College (MSPSBS) Academic Prize and Certificate Presentation Ceremony 2009 held at the auditorium yesterday.
The school principal, Cikgu Pg Sarimah Pg Hj Ahmad, commented that the recipients this year are a studious lot, adding that the education standard is very high in MSPSBS. All of MSPSBS's students are high achievers, she said.
Batrisyia Aqilah Hj Ahmad Ghazali, a Year 10 student who received three awards this year -Test Student' (Year 10), 'Best Student in English Language' and 'Best Student in Geography' - expressed her surprise during the ceremony.
"I didn't expect to achieve all three academic awards but I am grateful. I have always wanted this and I am really happy," she told the Bulletin.
This year, 15 Year Seven students, 17 Year Eight students and 17 Year 10 students received the Best Student Award.
Based on subjects, 14 Year Seven, eight Year Eight and 16 Year 10 students received academic awards.
10 students were given awards based on `most academic improvement'.
The school also presented awards to students who had taken part in the Australian English Competition, Australian Science Competition and Australian Mathematics Competition for the year 2009.
Aside from the presentation of academic awards, the ceremony aimed to encourage healthy competition amongst the students and to generate innovative, creative and ambitious students.
Sajak and Nasyid performances entertained parents, teachers, students and other school staff who were at the ceremony.
