Students Advise To Inspire Own Success
"This factor is so important as no matter how exceptional the teachers are or the teaching facilities used are up to par, the best results won't be produced if the students themselves do not want and need success," said the Senior Education Officer from the Schools Inspectorate Department at the Ministry of Education, Hjh Ardinah OKMB Hj Othman.
She went on saying that the students should realise that the future held many challenges and bigger obstacles, and at any time this can affect their plans.
"A student needs to be smart in making the right decisions so that the hopes and sacrifices of their parents are not in vain," she said.
Teachers, Hjh Ardinah said, also played important roles that needed high diligence, perseverance as well as professionalism.
"Although these students are the chosen ones and who have excelled in their Lower Primary Assessment (PSR) examination, the success in guiding them through this is not yet sufficient to be a measure for them to progress to the next level," she added.
Hjh Ardinah also stressed the need for parents to give their support towards activities pertaining to patriotism that were organised by the school especially those that needed student's involvement.
Sharing the sentiment was Acting Principal of MSPSBS Dk Sarimah Pg Hj Ahmed, who said that "students must work hard for success and there are not many people in the world who are naturally born geniuses".
"In the United States, about 45 billionaires are graduates from Harvard University.
"You all know that Harvard is a top ranking university in the world that not only produces brilliant graduates but also teaches them how to make money," she said.
Students with the best average overall as well as each subject from Secondary Four, Year Seven and Year Eight received their prizes and certificates.
Other awards included prizes and certificates for students who have shown great achievement in each subject. There were also prizes for students who obtained excellent scores in the Australian Science, English and Mathematics competition of 2009. -- Courtesy of The Brunei Times
