Walkathon, Cycling To Mark World Town Planning Day
Bandar Seri Begawan - Staff from the Ministry of Development gathered early yesterday morning to take part in a charity walkathon and a cycling expedition in conjunction with the World Town Planning Day 2009 at the Jalan Menteri Besar recreational park.
Leading the group of cyclists was Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdullah bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar, the Minister of Development.
Also present at the event were Dato Paduka Dr Awang Hj Mat Suny bin Hj Mohd Hussein, the Deputy Minister of Development and Dato Paduka Awang Haji Rashid bin Haji Abd Rahman, Permanent Secretary (Technical and Professional).
Following a 15-minute aerobics session, the minister launched the cycling expedition and led the way around the park Meanwhile, the walkathon event was launched by Awang Haji Mohd Rozan bin Dato Paduka Haji Md Yunos, Permanent Secretary (Administration and Finance) of the Ministry of Development.
The theme for this year's World Town Planning Day 2009 "Reaching Out To The Next Generation... Planning For A Better Tomorrow".
It is aimed at trying to raise awareness among the younger generation on the understanding in the processes and works in city and town planning. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
