Give Us Car Enthusiasts A Chance For Our Hobby

To whom this may concern (especially those who have the authority on what I am going to point out here). I know this has been going on for ages and so many people have been asking (even begging maybe) to certain authorities for us (car enthusiasts) have the flexibility to modify our cars.

Isn't it much better for these authorities to allow us modify our cars and probably based on certain guidelines on what to modify and to what extent the modification is allowed?

As we all can see in Brunei, there are so many cars being modified which are not registered and are not allowed, but why do certain car accessories shops sell these items since these are not allowed? Why can't the authorities be more flexible on this, just give us a guideline on to what extent our cars can be modified. Example, sports rims/wheels are sold in almost all car accessories shops, but when it comes to road blocks, we will be asked to stop and will be given a certain fine. FYI, sports rims/wheels are just to make the car look nice and I do not see any wrong in making a car look better.

I am a car enthusiast, and the reason why Bruneians modify their cars is simply because to make the car look nice. It's just the cosmetics for the car, just like a woman wearing make-up and putting on the right clothing to look pretty and beautiful. It's just a handful of car enthusiasts modify their cars just for the sake of taking part in illegal racings and whatnot. If possible, we would love for certain authorities to allow these modifications, with a guideline, but not that drastic. Maybe just allow us to change into sports rims/wheel. Please consider my plea and hope to see these allocations being approved.

Yeah dude. you're totally right. This has been going on for years. What is it that is so harmful about sports rims? and so are sports exhausts, FYI not all gives out loud sound. And i know many people will agree that even those who are conducting those RB's have their ride/s modified. I hope relevant authorities will revise the rules on modifying cars.

And yeah! to the person who wrote this, I support you 110%. hehe.

Yes i agree with the writer.sometimes we just want to stand out a bit,be different. We buy the same model and everyone also buy the same model and it looks a little bit boring. So we want to dress up our car a little bit and have people admire our rides.Like i read in the Borneo bulletin in the Opinion page on 21/11/09, a guy mentioned that cars with assessories drive slower then cars with original fittings. That is very true.

Funny thing is those yg bermodified their cars are low salary people such as askar recruits, keranis, peons, office boy.... Sampai kapih2 just for the sake to make their car look beautiful. Some even go to the extreme modify their cranky old breakdown car by adding spoilers and paint their front hood black so as to look like it is carbon fibre. Then lapas sudah kapih, berabis kan apply zakat... *sigh*

Garis Pandu

Agree with Awang. Why these poor 'wanna be's' always want to modify their cars look horrible? if they can afford then it is ok. but i think some just over spent. i don mind mild modification but extreme modification just make me sick. like exaggerating spoiler and those noisy exhaust just make my ear drums hurt. I think sport rims are ok if they fulfill the safety guidelines. No offense to car lover but don make too much noise with the loud speakers and exhaust. the world have too much noise pollution please reduce them thank you very much

If you think it's only 'poor' people who modify their cars, then, well, you're a bit misinformed.

And why does that matter anyway? People should be allowed to spend their money on their cars, as long as it doesn't harm anyone. Aesthetic improvements like wheel rims are not dangerous.

I'm not a car-enthusiast, but there's no reason to fine people who wants their car to look good.
