Bandar Seri Begawan - Happy Motoring Co Sdn Bhd officially launched the all-new Honda Freed yesterday in a ceremony that left attendees impressed with its stylishly designed 'Triangle Square Concept.'

Invited Honda owners were asked to fill in survey forms and were also given goodie bags from the Honda distributor.

Meanwhile, a lucky draw allowed lucky guests to take home prizes such as Nokia mobile phones sponsored by Baiduri, $50 Hua Ho vouchers sponsored by Bank Taib, and Honda collections from Happy Motoring Co Sdn Bhd.

In his welcome speech, Happy Motoring Co Sdn Bhd Managing Director Loh Kok Sin revealed that the Honda Freed received the Best Value Award for the Japan Car of the Year (2008 - 2009) following its Japanese debut back in May 2008.

"The new Honda Freed is an international product that has been designed to meet Honda's quality standard and is specifically designed in accordance to the needs of its Asian customers," he added.

It is powered by a 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine and has a five-speed automatic transmission. The introductory period special price is $37,999, down from the usual $40,990.

Husain bin Md Shah, one of the attendees, said, "I am fascinated by the design of the interior, especially the unique positioning of the gearshift handle that is on the dashboard. It also has the same i-VTEC engine like my Honda Jazz. It would be nice to own one, but having a small family of three, I think it is most suited for those young, high-spirited families as it is more convenient for them."

The Honda Freed has powered sliding doors at both sides which open to a full width of 600mm. It can also be operated with a touch sensor at the driver's seat or by a keyless remote control system. Its audio system is equipped with an AUX, USB, I-Pod. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
