Sufficient Supply of Korban Animals

Bandar Seri Begawan - There will be a sufficient supply of sacrificial animals for the upcoming Hari Raya Korban.

This assurance was given by Executive Director of Halaqah Sdn Bhd, Pg Haji Hassan bin PMSLD Pg Haji Damit, during the transfer of the sacrificial animals to abattoirs, at Muara Port yesterday.

The animals arrived in the country yesterday from Australia.

This year, a total of 1,513 sacrificial animals were imported for the Korban. The animals include 960 heads of cattle, 157 buffaloes (steers) and 400 goats. The animals will be distributed to companies involved in the scarificial operations - Mulaut Abattoir, PDS Abattoir and Syarikat Hussein Rahman.

He said the company is the sole importer of such animals, especially from Australia. This year, the company imported cattle, goats and buffaloes from the Australian states of Northern Territory and Queensland.

This year, Mulaut Abattoir Sdn Bhd also imported a total of 540 heads of cattle and buffaloes and 375 goats for the Korban from Northern Territory, Australia.

People can obtain the forms to order the sacrificial animals from Mulaut Meat Shop and Mulaut Abattoir Marketing Office in Jalan Kilanas. Forms were also distributed to government offices, the private sector and mosques.
