Japan, Brunei Pen Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement
Bandar Seri Begawan - The diplomatic ties between Brunei Darussalam and Japan reached another historic milestone following the exchange of diplomatic notes on the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) between both countries, which took place yesterday.
Following this exchange, the DTAA will be enforced from January 2010, resulting in the avoidance of double taxation on incomes received by respective companies from the two countries such as company profits, dividends and other types of income.
The DTAA will enhance and increase tax cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and Japan and will also help to facilitate more trade and investment activities.
The diplomatic notes on the DTAA were signed and exchanged at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade by Dato Lim Jock Hoi, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Mr Noriki Hirose, the Ambassador of Japan to Brunei Darussalam.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
