Employers, Staff Attend Labour Department Briefing
Bandar Seri Begawan - Prominent civil servants, employers and staff in the Belait District were invited to a briefing hosted by the Belait Labour Department yesterday morning at Dewan Santap, Kuala Belait, to provide guidelines and insights on the newly-implemented 'Employment Order 2009', which was created to ensure an effective and efficient workforce in the nation.
The briefing was delivered by the Assistant Commissioner of Labour Department, Legal and Prosecution Section, Awg Shariful Bahri bin Haji Sawas. Also present during the briefing was the Assistant Belait District
Officer, Hj Abd Hamid Dato Paduka Hj Abdullah The order took effect on September 3 this year to reduce the dependency on foreign workforce, protect the rights and welfare of employees and raise the level of awareness among employers regarding their responsibilities to their staff.
The briefing provided a platform for respective employers and employees to clarify particular employment issues.
The briefing covered vital topics ranging from introduction of the order, contract of service and termination, salary payment and calculation or overtime, to name a few.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
