Officers Learn Effective Skills In Managing Natural Disasters
Bandar Seri Begawan - The National Disaster Management Centre and the Asian Disaster Reduction Centre (ADRC) organised a programme entitled "Asean Cooperation Project: Training for Trainers" to enhance the capacity of senior officers in various sectors in the field of disaster management.
The three-day programme began yesterday. Some 18 government officers have been appointed as training workforce where they will upgrade their capacities in facing and handling natural disasters. The lecturers comprise four experts in disaster risk reduction from ADRC, a center actively involved in natural disaster reduction based in Hyogo, Japan.
Among the issues discussed were hazards and disaster mapping, business continuity plan and introduction to Hyogo action-plan framework concept. Through this programme, trainers conduct activities relating to disaster management reduction at the national level where they will carry out risks and disaster mappings at two villages in Tutong. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
