Belait Women's Delegation To Visit Sabah

Kuala Belait - A 33-member delegation consisting wives of Penghulus, Ketua Kampongs and Women Bureaus of Belait District village wards and village consultative council will leave for Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on a four-day goodwill and working visit from Nov 19-22.

The visit is facilitated by the Belait District Office and led by Datin Paduka Hajah Salmah binti Haji Hanafiah, wife to the Minister of Home Affairs.

The trip to Kota Kinabalu will be hosted by the Ministry of Rural Development and Papar District Office, Sabah.

Among the aims of the visit are to foster closer relationships between the delegation and the hosts and to look at the economic-related activities initiated by the local communities in Papar District.

Apart from that, the programme will include site visits coordinated by the Papar District Office, a courtesy call on the Chairperson of Sabah Assemblymen's Wives Charity and Welfare Association (BAKISA) and cultural exchange shows. Before leaving Kota Kinabalu on Sunday, the delegation will stop at the famous tamu at Gaya Street.

Prior to departure, a doa selamat was held at Seri Kandi Restaurant hosted by its t CEO Shaikh Khalid.

At the blessing ceremony, Hajah Sharifah Maimunah, the restaurant owner, contributed $500 to the guest of honour, Awang Haji Jamain bin Momin, Belait District Officer. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
