Bandar Seri Begawan - Forty Suzuki Swift RS413, 415 and 416 owners, received a training on defensive driving yesterday in a special design safety course at the parking lot opposite the Royal Regalia.
Organised by Boustead, the Suzuki Swift D-Drive,' where D stands for Defensive, was officially launched by Pg Hi Md Ali Bin Pg Hj Othman, Chairman of the Municipal Board.
Dato Paduka Lim Beng Thai, Managing Director of Boustead Sdn Bhd, welcomed him. Also present was Lim Jin Lee, Boustead executive manager.
Pg Hj Md Ali Bin Pg Hj Othman thanked Boustead Sdn Bhd for hosting the event in the heart of the capital to enliven the atmosphere.
He also hoped that the partnership between the private and public sector will continue in the future.
Meanwhile, John Van Leeuwen, the Australian instructor, said, "Today we will be conducting a number of training on road safety aspects for Suzuki owners. Today, the participants will be driving in Slalom course which has a plate mounted on the hood of the car with a tennis ball inside to test their smooth driving skills.
"There are also emergency braking events in a hazardous course as well as the spot-the-faulty car event."
"Participants can learn about braking and manoeuvering the vehicle in case of emergency and to understand the car better by spotting any problems with the vehicle," he said.
The activities also comprised WHOA, acceleration and braking exercise and reversing.
The swift D-Drive event will be followed by a subsequent trophies and certificates presentation ceremony to winners in the different activities and to those who participated on Nov 20 at 3pm. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
