Mahad Islam Brunei Holds Malay Speech Competition
Bandar Seri Begawan - Mahad Islam Brunei held a Malay speech competition for students in Years five and six from Arabic Schools throughout the country recently. The competition, held in conjunction with the Silver Jubilee, was held at the Mahad Islam Brunei's library.
Five participants competed in the competition. They were from Sekolah Persediaan Arab, Bandar Seri Begawan; Sekolah Arab Jerudong, Sekolah Arab Temburong, Mahad Islam Brunei and Sekolah Arab Belait.
Muhammad Iqbal Syaakib bin Haji Suhib from Jerudong Arabic School emerged as the champion with 82 marks. Second and third place went to Waeiz bin Ramledd from Mahad Islam with 79.5 marks and Siti Nur Khadijah binti Haji Abu Bakar with 79 marks.
Present to hand over the prizes and certificates was the Acting Principal of Mahad Islam, Ustazah Hajah Hamidah binti Awang Haji Salleh.
The aim of the competition was to work the students' mind and logic in delivering strong and rational speeches and discussing issues such as politics, education, society and the economy. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
