Limbang - One Country Two System
Limbang - One Country Two System
Brunei will never win in the territorial disputes (Limbang) with Malaysia, it knows that, that's why it doesn't fight that hard like Singapore taking Malaysia to International Court over those small islands near Johor, and that it kept pretty quiet when Malaysia published it dropped the claims last time even though it was never discussed.
Very easy, Malaysia and the International Court just need to ask few questions; what would happen to those 42,000 folks in Limbang, will they get PR or citizenship? If they can get citizenship what about those born in Brunei stateless? If they can't it means Brunei violated the UN laws and doesn't deserve to take Limbang.
Secondly, Limbang has always been under the democratic system where people vote, and it is the preferred system of the UN. Can Brunei accept one country two systems in Limbang? The Malaysia would just use these 2 points and the Bruneian side will be without a credible reply. ICJ will then have no choice but to declare Limbang Malaysia forever.

1.The Protectorate Agreement of 17 December 1888 between Brunei and Britain left the Sultan full internal autonomy, but handed over external sovereignty to the British. The annexation of Limbang in 1890 by Charles Brooke was therefore seen as a gross betrayal of trust.
2.The annexation of Limbang in 1890 by Charles Brooke was illegal and was not approved and signed by the Sultan of Brunei. This annexation is illegal and not allowed by the United Nations.
So Brunei can use this facts to win that Limbang is still belong to Brunei.

@silence: since Brunei is now aiming for food sufficiency and only 5% of its lands is left available for development, getting Limbang and make it contiguous instead of being cut into 2 is widely favorable for all purposes.

There was an incident happened in 2002 (if Iam not mistaken), where an oil company that work for Brunei was forced to exit the area and later Malaysia claim, the area is belong to them... But In reality the area is actually belong to Brunei.
Then Malaysian oil comapny starts production from that reservoir.
The case was brought to the international law and both country later agree not to do further production until the case was solved.
In the book also mentioned, Our Sultan and the former PM of Malaysia, then starts a discussion, but it was mentioned that Brunei was given an option either to take limbang or the oil reservoir. Of course our HM disagree since both cases are totally unrelated to each other and furthermore for both cases, the reservoir is actually belong to Brunei and Limbang also belong to Brunei (James Brook's agreement.
The evident is there, but the issue BruneiLimbang and the oil reservoir is still not being settled.
But I remembered the case happened last year where after the Malaysia PM paid visit to Brunei, every single malaysia newspaper make a headline that "LIMBANG IS OFFFICIALLY PArT OF MALAYSIA" where the case was never been discussed, according to our Borneo Bulletin report...

Mahu tani terima limbang atas dasar keselamatan? Sedangkan negeri tani lagi nda barapa selamat dsebab kecurain, rompakan , pembunuhan. Don't add more burden to take limbang in brunei. We're already a peace country.
So from my opinion. bersyukur tah apa ada nya .mungkin ada hikmah sebalik kejadian time dulu sultan bagi limbang arah james brooke atu.
So, bersyukur.
