'Green Bandar' Initiative Lacks Credibility
'Green Bandar' Initiative Lacks Credibility
I welcome the Municipal Department's Green Bandar Seri Begawan Initiative, but if you're only adding more green, its not exactly hard work in Brunei. It's everywhere. Instead, if the Municipal Department wants to be a bit pro-active they should actually start building some parks with water fountains (e.g. a botanical garden) within the Bandar area. That will give some real credibility to the idea.
Other things that can be done is actually replacing all bulbs in government offices to energy saving lighting, as well as building gardens on the roofs of buildings as a means to reduce heat in an affordable manner. Also, the Municipal Department should look at using solar energy cells to light street lights as well as decorations.
Additionally, they should also consider implementing the three bins for recycling (paper, plastic and general waste), and lastly, the Municipal Department could look into restricting heavy polluters (such as cars that run on diesel that emit heavy black smoke) from entering the Bandar vicinity.
Then, we will be a lot closer to a really greener BSB.
