MOH Committed To Ensuring Top-Notch Dental Practice
Bandar Seri Begawan - The Ministry of Health is committed to supporting continuing professional development activities to ensure that healthcare personnel are up to date with current standards of evidence-based dental practice.
This was stated by Dr Hjh Norlila binti Dato Paduka Hj Abd Jalil, Director General of Medical Services who was the guest of honour at the closing ceremony of the third FDI/MOH Brunei Dental Convention and Dental Trade Exhibition, yesterday, at the Indra Kayangan Ballroom, Empire Hotel and Country Club.
The main aim of the convention and trade exhibition was to contribute towards enhancing knowledge, skills and professional development in the field of dentistry.
"This year's convention has emphasised the importance of preserving oral health including the dentition through several clinical preventive measures," Dr Hjh Norlila said in her closing address. "It has introduced new clinical strategies that can be useful in the prevention of early tooth loss.
"It has also highlighted various endodontic techniques in preserving teeth as an option to delay tooth loss through extractions. There has also been emphasis on enhancing aesthetics, which can be a useful strategy in motivating our clients to preserve their dentition."
The three-day convention featured seven eminent speakers from USA, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and Brunei who shared valuable expertise on a variety of topics on dental care. The dental trade exhibition, meanwhile, showcased innovative dental products from a variety of exhibitors.
Jointly organised by the Ministry of Health and the FDI World Dental Federation, the third FDI/MOH Brunei Dental Convention and Trade Exhibition saw active participation and input from delegates from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Ministry of Health, Jerudong Park Medical Centre, Department of Dental Services from Brunei and Sarawak as well as private practitioners. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
