Local Mechanical Engineering Student Comes Third In Malaysian Skills Competition
Bandar Seri Begawan - A local Bruneian won third place in the Proton Export Distributor Skills Competition which was held from October 29-November 1 at the Akademi Binaan Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur.
Muhammad Fadlul Rahman Mai, a final-year student doing his National Diploma in Automotive Engineering at the Mechanic Training Centre, was the second student from the centre to take part in the annually held competition.
Fadlul had to complete two tasks - one electrical task and one mechanical - in the competition. Contestants were judged based on procedures and techniques. In an interview with the Bulletin, Fadlul said that it was also the second time that he took part in the competition, and that he was very proud to represent the centre.
He said some of his fellow competitors already had some work experience in the two fields.
He added that he wants to promote the centre and be an example to the students. In describing Fadlul's abilities, one of his teachers said he can now perform an engine overhaul in two hours.
According to Muhammad Ridhwan Abdullah from the Worldwide Motor Sdn Bhd, Fadlul will be going through a work attachment programme at the company to further develop his skills and knowledge.
As for his future aspirations, Fadlul hopes to be able to further his studies in Mechanical Engineering in Australia, the United Kingdom or Malaysia. The prizewinner added that he loves what he is doing and that he has helped fix various car problems for his friends, which he says adds to his learning experience. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
