Great Eastern Grants Education Awards To Four Students
Bandar Seri Begawan - With the theme "Inspiring the Dreams of the Young", Great Eastern Life Brunei announced the recipients of the Education Award. These awards were offered to four students from selected schools in order to motivate, encourage and inspire them to strive towards academic excellence regardless of financial limitations.
At the presentation ceremony which was held at Great Eastern's new office yesterday afternoon, Lim Huey Cheeng from Chung Hwa Middle School Bandar Seri Begawan; Ak Mohammad Nazrin Pg Mohammad Noor from JigSaw Primary School; Vanessa Lim Pei Hua from St Andrew's School Bandar Seri Begawan and Janet Ak Mawan from St James' School, Kuala Belait received the Education Awards from Helen Yeo, Head Operations and Corporate Affairs of Great Eastern. Also present at the event was David Wong, Head Distrubution of Great Eastern.
In her speech, Helen Yeo said, "In Great Eastern, we are committed in fulfilling our social responsibility and to motivate, encourage and inspire youth to realise their dreams.
"With the theme, "Inspiring the Dreams of the Young", we hope that this award will help contribute to make the dreams of our youths come true because we believe that no child should be deprived of reaching his/her greatest potential in life.
"I would also like to congratulate the students who are chosen to be the recipient of this award. It is important for you to realise that the years you are spending in school are very important for your future. The school will always provide the necessary resources for education and parents are willing to sacrifice financially because we all believe that education is the key to progress and prosperity.
"This is Great Eastern's 10th year doing such award presentation since year 2000 and I would like to express our gratitude to the principals, deputy principals and staff of the four selected schools for their cooperation and support in selecting the students concerned for this Education Award," concluded Helen Yeo.
Also in attendance at the ceremony were parents of the recipients, principals and senior staff from the four selected schools, managers and staff of Great Eastern Brunei.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
